Focus
God's promises reflect His character and His desire for our wellbeing. Rather than unconditional gifts, they require us to maintain a living relationship with God through Christ's work. Many promises function as covenants — relational agreements that endure even when we stumble. While we may fail, God remains steadfast in these commitments.
Looking Back
Share as a whole group or in twos or threes
- How has a divine promise influenced your prayers or actions recently?
Or
- When did you miss an opportunity to trust God's promise? What happened as a result?
Take time for group updates on blessings and concerns.
Meditation and Prayer
Listen quietly to "Jireh" by Elevation Worship & Maverick City on YouTube, then transition into grateful prayer for God's promises and intercession for shared needs.
Looking Up
God's covenantal promises open possibilities we couldn't access otherwise. Embracing them transforms our beliefs and infuses divine values into daily life, relationships, and community.
Open God's Word
Genesis 12:1-7 — God's covenant with Abram, who becomes Abraham
- What does this reveal about God's heart toward humanity?
- Considering Abram's household size and responsibilities, what communication and organizational tasks did "going" involve?
Galatians 3:7-9 & 3:26-29 — If you trust Jesus, Abraham's promise applies to you
- What does this communicate about God's regard for you?
- How might this clarify your life's purpose?
Promise Study in Pairs
Choose and examine one passage:
- Philippians 4:19
- Lamentations 3:21-24
- Matthew 28:18-20 & Romans 8:37-39
- John 6:68 & John 10:10
- Philippians 4:13 & Ephesians 3:20
For each passage:
- What does this reveal about God's heart for you?
- What fears or doubts about trusting God does this address?
Share findings with the larger group, then return to pairs:
- Which anxiety or hesitation will this promise help you overcome?
- What specific action, prayer, or change will help you embrace and live out this promise?
Looking Ahead
Prayer in Pairs or Threes
- Pray for each other's commitments.
- Pray for someone distant from God — ask for ways to bless, share, serve, or invite them this week.
