Diligence and Stewardship in Daily Life

21 June 2026Life Group Ministry Team
Way of the Wise | Week 6

This series explores biblical wisdom around work, diligence, and stewardship. Through Proverbs, we are invited to reflect on how our daily habits, attitudes toward work, and handling of resources shape not only our lives but also our spiritual growth and witness.

Looking Back

To centre the group, invite everyone to pause for a moment of stillness. Ask each person to quietly reflect on their past week and name (silently or aloud) one area where they felt productive and one area where they struggled. Then pray together: "Lord, help us to be faithful in the small things."

Reflection Questions:

  1. Over the past two weeks, where have you seen diligence or laziness show up in your life?
  2. How have your daily habits (work, rest, spending, or saving) impacted your relationship with God?

Looking Up

Read together: Proverbs 10:4–5; 13:11; 21:20.

Discussion Questions:

  1. What contrasts do you notice between diligence and laziness in Proverbs 10:4–5? Why do you think these are emphasized?
  2. Proverbs 13:11 speaks about wealth gained slowly versus quickly—what wisdom do you see in this principle?
  3. In Proverbs 21:20, how are the wise and the foolish described in their use of resources?
  4. What do these passages collectively teach about long-term faithfulness versus short-term thinking?

Optional Resource: Consider watching a short BibleProject video on "Proverbs" or "Wisdom" to better understand how these teachings apply to everyday life and decision-making.

Looking Ahead

Application Questions:

  1. What is one area of your life where you need to grow in diligence this week? What practical step can you take?
  2. How can you begin (or improve) a habit of wise stewardship—whether in finances, time, or energy?
  3. What is one small, consistent action you can commit to that will build long-term faithfulness?

Prayer

Lord God,

Thank you for your wisdom that guides our everyday lives. Help us to be diligent in our work, faithful in our responsibilities, and wise in how we steward what you have given us. Guard us from laziness and short-sighted choices, and teach us to value steady, faithful growth. Shape our habits so that they honour you and reflect your goodness.

Amen.
